Homestead Exemption
- Up to $50,000 for real or personal property you occupy as a single person, or up to $75,000 as a married couple up to $125,000 if over 65 or physically or mentally disabled, and up to $100,000 if over 55. This can be doubled for a married couple. You must record the exemption before an attempted sale of the property.
Insurance Exemption
- Insurance annuities or disability payments and all proceeds from a fraternal society's benefits program. Also exempt are any proceeds of a life insurance policy if the beneficiary is the spouse of child of the filer.
Pensions for Law Enforcement Officers, Teachers, and State Employees are Exempt.

Personal Property
- Appliances, furnishings, clothing, and food considered essential
- Any tools of trade (uniforms, tools for occupation, etc.) to $5,000
- Jewelry, heirlooms and art to $5,000
- Family pictures
- Burial plots
- One automobile for personal use, not to exceed a value of $1,900
