Homestead Exemption
- Rural Homestead is considered up to 160 acres not to exceed $2,500 in value. Urban homestead is up to 1 acre not to exceed $2,500 in value.
- Real or personal property used as a residence to $800 if single, or $1,250 if married.
Insurance Exemption
- Insurance annuities or disability payments and all proceeds from a fraternal society's benefits program. Also exempt are any proceeds of a life insurance policy if the beneficiary is the spouse of child of the filer.
Pensions for Disabled Law Enforcement Officers, Teachers, Police Officers, State Employees and State Troopers are Exempt.
Personal Property
- Clothing
- Personal property to $500 if head of household; otherwise, to $200.
- Any tools of trade (uniforms, tools for occupation, etc.) to $750.
- Family pictures
- Burial plots not to exceed 5 acres
- One automobile for personal use, not to exceed a value of $1,200
- Wedding and engagement rings, with any diamond not to exceed 1/2 carat.
