Homestead Exemption
- Up to $100,000 for personal home for an individual or couple. This can not be doubled for a married couple. You must record the exemption before an attempted sale of the property.
Insurance Exemption
- Insurance annuities or disability payments and all proceeds from a fraternal society's benefits program. Also exempt are any proceeds of a life insurance policy if the beneficiary is the spouse of child of the filer.
Pensions for Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, Rangers, and State Employees are Exempt.
Personal Property
- Any tools of trade (uniforms, tools for occupation, etc.) that are required for your job.
- $4,000 in personal property, following specific guidelines.
- Check Arizona guidelines - these are so specific that they designate how many chairs, lamps, rugs, etc. you may keep.
- One automobile for personal use, not to exceed a value of $1,500
- Books to $250
- Wedding and engagements rings to $1,000
- Clothing up to $500
- Food and fuel to last six months
- Pets, horses, cows and poultry to $500
