Homestead Exemption
- Up to $15,000 for real estate (up to 160 acres) or a mobile home for an individual. This can be doubled for a married couple. You must record the exemption before an attempted sale of the property.
Insurance Exemption
- Insurance annuities or disability payments and all proceeds from a fraternal society's benefits program. Also exempt are any proceeds of a life insurance policy if the beneficiary is the spouse of child of the filer.
Pensions for Law Enforcement Officers, Teachers, and State Employees are Exempt.
Personal Property
- Books
- Clothing
- Any tools of trade (uniforms, tools for occupation, etc.)
- $8,000 in personal property per adult individual filing
- Family pictures
- Burial plots
- One automobile for personal use, not to exceed a value of $2,400
